During the World War 2 Libya was controlled by Italy and Germany was allied with Italy to strengthen their militaries; The Australian and British troops had a training camp in Egypt and Hitler wanted Egypt for the oil that was under the sand in the west of the country. So thinking that there was nothing but pushover s in Egypt Hitler decided to send some of his troops to combine with the Italians and attack Egypt. Once the British found out that the Nazis were attacking they retaliated and tried to drive the Germans back into Libya.
