These Rats of Tobruk are firing using a light artillery machine gun.
The Rats of Tobruk were Australian soldiers that refused to leave the city of Tobruk when the Germans and Italiens invaded. They were ordered to by the high command but refused to give in to the German threat. They were named the rats of tobruk because the German commander General Erwin Rommel said that they were caught like rats in a trap. The Australians didn't take it as an insult but as a compliment and wore the name with pride. In the end the Rats of Tobruk won the siege, the main secret to their sucess was their determination to never give up.
